Arvada West defeats Northfield 14-0

DENVER — No. 1 Arvada West did more than protect its spot Thursday. It strengthened its case.

The Wildcats rolled past No. 10 Northfield 14-0 on the road, extended their winning streak to 12 straight, and remained unbeaten in Colorado behind a dominant all-around performance from 2027 Texas Longhorns commit Cooper Vais.

The biggest reason was Cooper Vais, the Class of 2027 Texas Longhorns commit, who delivered a massive two-way performance. Vais finished the day with 3 hits, 5 RBI, and 2 home runs at the plate while also throwing 4 innings with 9 strikeouts on the mound.

That kind of all-around outing would have stood out in any game. In a matchup against a ranked opponent, with Arvada West trying to validate its new No. 1 spot, it meant even more.

This was not just a win. It was the kind of result that made Arvada West look like a real state-title threat.

After the game, Vais made it clear the Wildcats are not treating one big result as the finish line.

“It’s a great feeling,” Vais said. “We’re not done yet.”

That mentality matched the performance. Arvada West did exactly what top-ranked teams are supposed to do in big games: control the night, lean on star talent, and leave no doubt.
