DENVER — The Colorado high school basketball season came to a close Saturday night as state champions were crowned inside the Denver Coliseum. After weeks of playoff action across the state, the final games of the 2026 CHSAA tournaments brought together the top teams in Classes 4A, 5A and 6A for a championship showcase that concluded the winter season on Colorado’s biggest high school stage.
Boys Champions

Rock Canyon — Class 6A
Rock Canyon made history by capturing the first boys basketball state championship in school history, defeating Ralston Valley 68–58 in the 6A title game.
The Jaguars controlled the pace in the second half and used balanced scoring to secure the program’s breakthrough championship.
Senior Cooper Ellwood led Rock Canyon with 21 points, while Jacob David added 16 and Kai Valentine finished with 13 as the Jaguars closed out a memorable postseason run.
For a program that had been building toward a championship opportunity in recent seasons, the victory marked a defining moment for Rock Canyon basketball.

Lutheran — Class 5A
Lutheran claimed the 5A boys state championship after defeating Windsor in the title game, capping an impressive postseason run.
Forward Kade Speckman delivered a standout performance in the championship, leading the Lions with 31 points and helping Lutheran control the tempo in the second half.
The Lions’ championship run showcased their offensive firepower and depth, as Lutheran navigated one of the most competitive brackets in the state tournament to bring home the 5A title.

Kent Denver — Class 4A
Kent Denver continued its dominance in Class 4A, defeating University 95–81 to secure back-to-back state championships.
The Sun Devils played at their trademark fast pace, overwhelming opponents with transition scoring and perimeter shooting.
Air Force commit Caleb Fay led Kent Denver with 32 points in the championship game, while Sam Glynn added 24 as the Sun Devils repeated as state champions.
Girls Champions

Highlands Ranch — Class 6A
Highlands Ranch captured the 6A girls state championship with a gritty 54–51 victory over Northfield.
The Falcons relied on timely scoring and defensive stops down the stretch to hold off a late push from Northfield.
Kimora Banks-Thomas led Highlands Ranch with 20 points, while Katie Moon added 15 as the Falcons secured the championship.
The win capped a strong postseason run for Highlands Ranch, which consistently found ways to close out tight games throughout the playoffs.

Lutheran — Class 5A
Lutheran completed a remarkable weekend for the program by also capturing the 5A girls state championship, giving the Lions a rare boys-and-girls title sweep.
The victory showcased the program’s depth and consistency, as Lutheran’s girls team battled through a competitive 5A bracket to reach the championship game and secure the title.
Winning both the boys and girls championships in the same season marked one of the most impressive program achievements of the tournament.

Holy Family — Class 4A
Holy Family continued its tradition of success by winning the 4A girls state championship, adding another trophy to the program’s decorated history.
The Tigers relied on balanced scoring and strong defense from Alexia Oaxaca (19 points) and Priya Lucas (18 points) throughout the title game, finishing the season with a championship performance at the Denver Coliseum.
Holy Family’s win further cemented the program as one of Colorado’s most consistent contenders in girls basketball.
Breakout Players
Several players delivered standout performances on the state’s biggest stage during championship weekend.
Caleb Fay — Kent Denver
The Air Force commit finished his high school career in dominant fashion, scoring 32 points in the 4A championship game.
Jacob David — Rock Canyon
David ran off 7 straight points to hold of Ralston Valley’s comeback in the end of the 6A state championship game.
Cooper Ellwood — Rock Canyon
Ellwood’s 21-point performance helped lead the Jaguars to their first boys basketball state championship.
Kimora Banks-Thomas — Highlands Ranch
Banks-Thomas led the Falcons with 20 points in the 6A championship victory.
Kade Speckman — Lutheran
Speckman played a pivotal role in Lutheran’s run to the Class 5A boys championship. The junior forward delivered one of the tournament’s most dominant semifinal performances with 31 points and 11 rebounds against Windsor.
Isla Koffman — Lutheran
Koffman delivered a strong performance in the Class 5A girls championship, recording a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double to help Lutheran defeat Green Mountain and secure the state title.
Katie Moon — Highlands Ranch
Moon added 15 points and played a key role in closing out the Falcons’ three-point championship win.
Priya Lucas — Holy Family
Lucas dropped 18 points and held down the glass with 7 rebounds on the way to another Holy Family Championship.
