At the NFL scouting combine, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton voiced confidence in Davis Webb as he takes on play-calling responsibilities, pointing to Webb’s background and preparation.
Payton called Webb “sharp,” noting that he grew up around coaching, played quarterback, and showed well during the preseason. Payton also emphasized that his job is to support Webb as he grows into the role.
And while play-calling will naturally draw attention, Payton tried to set the tone early: “We’re not going to sit and grade his play calling each week,” he said, adding that the bigger focus will remain on the team’s overall performance.
