The Denver Broncos put together their most complete performance of the season Monday Night, rolling past the Cincinnati Bengals 28-3 at Empower Field to even their record at 2-2.
Denver quarterback Bo Nix delivered a career night, the rushing attack came alive behind J.K. Dobbins 101 yards rushing, and the defence suffocated a Bengals offense missing Joe Burrow.
Nix Finds His Rhythm
After a rocky start, Nix showcased poise on the primetime stage. He completed 29 of 42 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns, adding a short rushing score.
Nix spread the ball around to 11 different receivers, with Courtland Sutton once again leading the way (six catches, 61 yards, one TD.) Rookie Troy Franklin chipped in 44 yards, while Harvey added a touchdown catch.
Though Nix threw an interception in the red zone before halftime, the Broncos overcame the mistake and controlled the game throughout.
Ground Game Breaks Through
For the first time in 38 games, a Broncos back eclipsed 100 yards. Dobbins powered for 101 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown, while Harvey ripped off a 50-yard burst on his way to 70 yards rushing.
The balance between Nix’s arm and the running game allowed Denver to Control tempo and keep Cincinnati’s defence off balance.
Defense Dominates Again
Facing backup quarterback Jake Browning, the Broncos defence feasted. Browning managed just 14 completions for 125 yards and was sacked multiple times.
Denver’s pass rush, led by Nik Bonitto and DJ Jones, generated constant pressure, while the secondary locked down Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, holding the duo to short gains.
Cincinnati finished with just 159 total yards and one first downs. The Bengals’ lone points came on a first-quarter field goal before they blanked the rest of the night.
The victory improves Denver to 2-2, providing momentum ahead of next week’s road trip to Philadelphia. For the Broncos, it was a glimpse of what’s possible when offences and defence play in sync.
“We’re starting to see it come together,” had coach Sean Payton said. “The balance, the discipline – that’s what we’ve been preaching.”
