GRANDVIEW ROLLS PAST CASTLE VIEW IN OPENING ROUND, SECURES FIRST HOME PLAYOFF WIN SINCE 2019

AURORA, CO – The Grandview Wolves (13-11) made a statement in their return to the state playoffs, dominating No. 40 seed Castle View (9-15) with a 70-53 victory on Tuesday night at Grandview High School. The win marked the Wolves’ first home playoff victory since 2019, and they did it in convincing fashion.

Senior point guard Breven Andersen led the charge with 22 points and 3 assists, while junior forward Noah Sevy was a force in the paint, finishing with 18 points and 7 rebounds. The Wolves controlled the game from the opening tip, never allowing Castle View to build any momentum.

“Feels really good, man,” said head coach Ryan Turk after the win. “It’s been a while since we’ve had a home playoff game or even made the playoffs, so this is special for us. Just working through adversity, making sure that we can. We know that if we keep our head, we can get through early things. It’s been a long road.”

Grandview Controls the Game from Start to Finish

From the opening minutes, Grandview dictated the pace, using its defensive pressure and transition offense to take control. Andersen, the Wolves’ floor general, was efficient in both scoring and distributing, ensuring the offense ran smoothly.

“We’re just striving to get better,” Andersen said. “We work on the small things, but I know we’ve been capitalizing off the little things we’ve been working on. So, hey, man, watch out for us. Now we coming.”

Sevy provided a dominant inside presence, securing rebounds and finishing strong around the rim. His performance was instrumental in Grandview’s ability to maintain a comfortable lead throughout the game.

“I mean, this is the first time in a minute that we’ve actually won a game in the playoffs,” Sevy said. “I mean, like, it’s seriously, like, massive for the program. First time we win a playoff game at home since 2019. Just playing together and getting some dubs is always good.”

Next Up: Horizon on Friday Night

With the win, Grandview advances to the second round, where they will face No. 8 Horizon (17-6) on Friday at 7 p.m. in Thornton. The Wolves will look to build on their momentum and extend their playoff run against a tough Horizon team.

For now, though, Grandview can celebrate a long-awaited postseason home victory—a milestone moment for a program looking to make some noise in the state tournament.
