Chaparral Rallies Past Regis Jesuit 62-51, Stays Unbeaten In Continental League Play

Aurora, CO – The fourth-ranked Chaparral Wolverines (14-3) showcased resilience and second-half dominance Friday night, storming back from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat No. 5 Regis Jesuit (13-4), 62-51, on the road.

Chaparral (5-0 Continental League) struggled early as Regis Jesuit came out firing, taking a 29-21 lead into the break. However, the Wolverines responded with an explosive third quarter, outscoring the Raiders 21-8 to seize control of the game. From there, Chaparral never looked back, pulling away behind their dynamic sophomore duo of Christian Williams and Luke Howery, who each finished with 19 points.

“I feel great about this team,” Williams said after the game. “We just have to keep progressing and getting better. We knew we weren’t going to lose that game—it just came down to defense and playing more as a team. We fixed our mistakes and got the win.”

Howery echoed that sentiment, crediting the Wolverines’ poise and defensive intensity in the second half.

“It feels good,” Howery said. “We just knew we had to guard and play good. We won by 11 and were down 8 at the half. Coach told us we have to stay composed and stay the course.”

With the win, Chaparral remains tied for first place in the Continental League with Mountain Vista, setting up a potential league-deciding showdown in the final game of the regular season.

But first, they have to get through the gauntlet of a tough Continental League.
