DENVER – The Denver Broncos solidified their playoff aspirations with a dramatic 41-32 win over the Cleveland Browns on “Monday Night Football” at Empower Field at Mile High. In a game filled with explosive plays and momentum swings, Denver’s defense stepped up late to secure the victory, pushing the Broncos to 8-5 on the season.
Rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a mixed outing, completing 18-of-35 passes for 294 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Despite the ups and downs, Nix guided the Broncos to critical scoring drives and praised his team’s resilience. “There were a lot of plays in that game,” Nix said postgame. “At the right time, both sides of the ball made plays.”

Denver’s defense was the story of the night, with two game-changing plays in the fourth quarter. Ja’Quan McMillan intercepted Jameis Winston and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown, giving the Broncos a crucial lead. Linebacker Cody Barton sealed the victory with another interception in the game’s final moments. Winston finished with 497 passing yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions, with former Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy contributing nine catches for 235 yards and a touchdown for Cleveland.
Head coach Sean Payton acknowledged the defensive lapses but highlighted the team’s ability to make key plays when it mattered most. “It wasn’t perfect by any means,” Payton said. “But we were able to finish strong. Those turnovers were huge.”
Denver’s offense found balance through timely rushing plays and a spectacular 93-yard touchdown from Nix to Marvin Mims Jr. The Broncos also leaned on their running backs, with Jaleel McLaughlin providing key contributions in the ground game.
For the Browns, the loss dropped them to 3-9 on the season. Jeudy’s breakout performance as Cleveland’s top receiver provided a silver lining for the visiting team but wasn’t enough to overcome costly turnovers.
With a late-season bye week on the horizon, the Broncos are primed for a playoff push. “We’re a confident bunch right now,” Nix said. “We’re playing with a chip on our shoulder and proving we’re a really good football team.”
The Broncos return to action in two weeks against the Indianapolis Colts, eyeing a strong finish to the season and a potential wild-card spot.
