LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The 2024 Colorado High School Activities Association’s Boys and Girls Track and Field State Championships concluded on Saturday, bringing together the state’s top athletes for an unforgettable weekend of competition at Jeffco Stadium from May 16-18. The event saw numerous records fall, with two Colorado all-classification prep records and 32 state meet records being rewritten across both boys and girls competitions.
Boys Competitions:
Team Champions:
- 5A Boys: Cherokee Trail captured their fourth overall and second consecutive state title.
- 4A Boys: Northfield won their first-ever state championship.
- 3A Boys: Classical Academy secured their seventh overall and second consecutive state title.
- 2A Boys: Peyton claimed their third overall and second consecutive championship.
- 1A Boys: Cheyenne Wells won their first overall state championship.

- Karamoko Sacks of Northfield: Sacko sets Colorado prep record of 13.43 in the 110m hurdles.
- Cherokee Trail’s 4x200m Relay Team: Jayden Hughes, Kahari Wilbon, Nick Hoffsetz,
- and Peyton Sommers set a new all-classification state meet record with a time of 1:24.93, surpassing the previous record held by Valor Christian since 2013.
- Jarrius Ward of Overland: Ward broke the state meet record in the discus with a throw of 203 feet, 4 inches, surpassing a record that had stood since 1977.
- Will Brunner of Battle Mountain: Brunner set a new state meet record in the 3200m run with a time of 9:01.22, beating the previous record by over two seconds.
- Ryan Martinez of Eaton: Martinez broke the 3A state meet record in the pole vault by clearing 15 feet, 5 inches, surpassing the previous record set in 2013.
Girls Competitions:

- 5A Girls: Rock Canyon won their first overall state title.
- 4A Girls: Niwot claimed their eighth overall and fifth consecutive state title.
- 3A Girls: Classical Academy secured their 12th overall and first title since 2018.
- 2A Girls: Timnath won their first overall state championship.
- 1A Girls: Merino defended their title, marking their fourth overall and second consecutive state championship.
Key Highlights and Record-Breaking Performances:
- Lilly Nichols of Broomfield: Nichols set a new Colorado prep and state meet record in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet, a standout achievement among the girls competitions.
- Isabel Allori of Liberty Common: Allori broke multiple state meet records, including the 3200m run (10:39.03), the 800m run (2:09.16), and the 1600m run (4:45.44), showcasing her exceptional talent and endurance.
- Heidi Nielsen of Classical Academy: Nielsen set new records in the 200m dash prelims (24.04) and finals (24.08), further cementing her status as one of the top sprinters in the state.
